February 5 MAFA Weaving A Chenille Scarf ZOOM
7 - 9 pm Eastern time. this 2 hour tutorial is designed to demonstrate techniques that will make your rayon chenille weaving a happy achievement. I will show a Powerpoint presentation with lots of tips about what makes rayon chenille such a unique fiber and how to successfully work with it. I'll demonstrate setting up the loom for this technique, weaving, good warp tensioning, and chat about what will make your chenille weaving the fabulous textile you's dike it to be. Of course, I'll welcome questions and comments along the way and chat about the supplies I like to ouse. There will be tips for waving with either a rigid heddle or multi harness loom, although I will assume you already have basic weaving experience. The handout will include a pattern for a chenille scarf. You will not weave along during the class, but see what techniques have made y rayon chenille weaving be successful. Then you can watch the recording to set up and weave your own wonderful scarf!

April 10 - 12 Arizona Fiber Arts Festival in person Camp Verde, AZ - classes will be online mid to late October
Seminar - Joining Pieces of Handwoven Fabric - Is your loom too narrow to weave the finished products you’d like to make? Do you enjoy weaving on narrow looms but want to create blankets or garments? Deborah will show you various ways to join panels together to make those wide finished pieces. Depending on your preference, your planned seaming can become part of the garment design or be invisible. During the 2-hour demo session you’ll see many different ways for seaming and will be able to practice on your own after class while viewing the recording or following the handout. This seminar will be recorded and available for students to review for 14 days after the festival so students can practice the techniques at home while reading the handout.
2 day class - Double your Fun - Using 2 Heddles on the Rigid Heddle Loom - Expand your weaving skills by learning how to create two layers of cloth on a rigid heddle loom. In this workshop, you’ll explore double-heddle weaving and discover how the layers can be connected—or kept separate—to produce fabric that is twice the width of your loom, as well as tubes and pockets within the cloth.
Participants will weave a sampler while exploring the many creative possibilities this technique offers. You’ll learn how to warp the loom and thread two heddles, then weave at double the sett of the heddle used, opening the door to a wide range of beautiful patterns made possible by the extra heddle.
As you work, you’ll practice manipulating two heddles with confidence and see how magically two distinct layers of cloth—each in a different color—can emerge on the loom. Along the way, you’ll experiment with connecting and separating the layers to create pockets, tubes, and other intriguing structures.
This workshop is designed for weavers who already have some experience with the rigid heddle loom and are ready to move on to the next level of skill and creative exploration. https://azfed.org/workshops-and-registration/ or
